Dr Jenny Kent appointed new Managing Director

We are pleased to share an important update regarding our management arrangements. As of 1 July – and after 30 years leading the company – Dr Daniel Galson will be handing the Managing Director role to Dr Jenny Kent and moving into a newly created Strategic Director role.

Jenny is a highly experienced consultant with 15 years’ experience at GSL, and has the requisite management skills to take the company forward into its next phase of development. She will also continue to fit in a (reduced) range of consultancy activities, so her technical expertise will not be lost.

As Strategic Director, Dan intends to focus on supporting Jenny in her new role, while also furthering our business development and project delivery. In addition, Jenny will have the continuing support of our exceptional senior leadership team, including Dr Tim Hicks, Dr Steve Wickham, Dr Tamara Baldwin, Dr Liz Harvey, Dr Slimane Doudou, Ann Rostern and Rebecca Houghton. Further support will come from our Finance Manager, Andy Murray, our Operations Manager, Rachel Hinckley-Kaelin, and Laure Prévot, Egis’ Radioactive Waste Product Line Manager.

This change will not affect our day-to-day operations. Our company values of innovative, timely and right-first-time delivery, sustainability, ethical conduct and concern for the development and well-being of our staff remain priorities for us.

Sharing his reflections and thoughts on this new chapter, Dan said “I highly value all the working relationships I’ve developed these past years and sincerely appreciate the trust you have placed in GSL and its delivery. The company is in safe hands and has a great future ahead of it. I have no doubt that you will be able to place the same confidence in Jenny and our wider leadership team.”

Jenny said “At GSL, we play an important role in supporting the development of radioactive waste management solutions, which is vital for the management of legacy wastes and the sustainability of new nuclear power. We have a fantastic and growing multidisciplinary team and I’m looking forward to us continuing to deliver a wide range of strategic and technical projects.”
