Galson Sciences Ltd - Waste transportation
GSL staff have experience of the analysis of safety, criticality, cost, and socio-economic issues associated with the packaging and transport of nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. For example:
- For Magnox Electric and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), we have conducted options analyses - considering the above issues - for the transport of radioactive waste to centralised facilities vs. on-site management.
- For Nirex, we have been responsible for criticality safety assessments for intermediate-level waste (ILW) transport.
- For the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) we have evaluated the transport implications of a wide range of options to manage the UK's radioactive wastes.
