Galson Sciences Ltd - Information and document management

Information is a key resource managed by our clients. GSL staff have extensive experience in the development and management of complex databases and data sets. Of particular note is our experience in developing databases on behalf of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) to support the licensing of radioactive waste management facilities, and the Issues Database for the Environment Agency for England and Wales (EA) in support of regulatory interactions on radioactive waste management. Other experience with database development has considered environmental commitments, project management, waste transport, site characterisation, waste characterisation, risk assessment, and cost.

GSL staff have experience in using electronic tools such as Folio Views® to compile multiple sources of documentation in a user-friendly format. For example, we have compiled, integrated and relationally linked the Compliance Documentation for the US Department of Energy (DOE) Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) site; this project included the assembly and electronic linkage of hundreds of documents produced by the proponent, the regulator and project stakeholders on a single CD. For UKAEA, we undertook a similar task to support a low-level waste (LLW) management project. For British Nuclear Group, we prepared a user-friendly interactive CD containing summary and original documentation of environmental assessments supporting decommissioning of the Hinkley Point A nuclear power plant.
